Promoting physical activity for people living with and beyond cancer: a survey of knowledge, attitude and practice of UK physiotherapists.
I would like to invite you to take part in a research study.
Identity of researcher: Jenny Collins as part of her MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice at Teesside University.
Background: There is a growing body of evidence of the benefits of physical activity for cancer patients. A number of research studies have looked at promotion of physical activity by other health professionals (oncologists, specialist nurses and GP's) but to date there is little information about how UK physiotherapists promote physical activity. Your responses will help to gain an understanding of the knowledge, attitude and clinical practice of physiotherapists in promoting physical activity to people living with and beyond cancer. Due to the high proportion of physiotherapists specialising in the treatment of with people with cancer being members of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Oncology and Palliative Care (ACPOPC) you have been invited to participate in this study.
What would taking part involve? You can go to the questionnaire by clicking on the next button below. The link to the questionnaire will be open until 15th March 2018.
The questionnaire should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. Submitting the completed the questionnaire is the end of your involvement in the study.
Are responses anonymous? Yes, all responses are anonymous. No information you provide will be identifiable to you.
What will happen to the data? The data will be collected by Bristol Online Surveys. The non-identifiable research data will be stored indefinitely on a secure password protected server at Teesside University. This is in case other researchers wish to raise questions about the results that need checking against the dataset. In the event that the study is published in a scientific journal, the non-person identifiable research dataset may be made publicly available (for example, as a supplement to the journal article, or stored on an on-line scientific data repository).
What if I do not wish to take part and what if I change my mind during the study? Participation is entirely voluntary. However it will not be possible to withdraw from the study once you have submitted your questionnaire as the data generated is anonymous and cannot be linked to individual participants.
How can I find out about the results of the study? It is anticipated that the results of the study will be published in a peer reviewed journal.
Is it necessary to give informed consent? Yes, but completing and submitting a questionnaire will be taken as consent to participate.
